Iglehart bought the eastern half of Payne-Phalen, ten-acre blocks three miles from St. Paul, lot 8 of block 18 on Robert Street, and Iglehart Street (now Avenue) in Ramsey County.
He lived in the county from 1854 to about 1862. He was from Anne Arundel County, Maryland and returned there in the 1860s. In 1860 his only slave was a 31-year-old woman.
Rosetta Johnson: She was owned by Iglehart while he lived in St. Paul, Minnesota, but she stayed with his father James Iglehart. She was likely the 31-year-old female slave listed under Harwood Iglehart’s name in the 1860 slave schedule. Harwood Iglehart freed her in 1864. In the 1870 Census, she was listed as a live-in “domestic” for James Iglehart. A link to her emancipation is here: http://aomol.msa.maryland.gov/000001/000832/html/am832–198.html
