Davis owned $20,000 in land in St. Paul in Ramsey County. (See “The South Is Coming North,” Weekly Minnesotian, 4 November 1854, 4.). He bought lot 4 of block 29 in Carver County in 1857 (109 4th St. E.) and sold it in December 1863 (see Carver County Historical Society, Carver Historic District 2014 Update).

He lived in Natchez, Adams County, Mississippi. In 1860 his male slaves were ages 40, 25, and 17; his only female slave was the age of 12.
